Luc Mainville, MBA - chairman of the board


Mr. Mainville is President and CEO of LAB Research Inc. (“LAB Research”), a contract research organization which listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE:LRI) in August 2006. LAB Research employs close to 525 employees and provides contract services to the Biotech, Pharmaceutical and Agro-industrial sectors from its four state-of-the-art facilities located in Canada, Hungary and Denmark. During his career, Mr. Mainville has held executives positions for various private and public companies including LAB International Inc., URRMA Biopharma, RTP Pharma and Waratah Pharmaceuticals which he co-founded and brought public in 2000.  Previous to 1998 Mr. Mainville was Senior Vice President and Partner in the corporate finance group of KPMG, one of Canada’s largest accounting firm.  Mr. Mainville holds an MBA degree as well as Bachelor’s degree in Finance. He also holds a brokerage certificate as well as formal training in hedging and derivatives. Throughout his career Mr. Mainville has been involved in a large number of financial transactions including mergers and acquisitions, IPO’s, and close to 50 other rounds of financing where he helped raise in excess of $500M from Canadian, US and European sources. Apart from LAB Research, Mr. Mainville is also board member of Cyplasin Biomedical (NASDAQ:CYPL), Enobia Pharma and Power Tech Corporation (TSXV:PWB). He also served on the Board of Bioaxone Therapeutics as Chairman from 2005 to 2007.


Ela Borenstein, MBA - director

Ms. Borenstein has over 20 years of consulting, management and entrepreneurial experience in the Biopharmaceutical and related industries. Prior to joining BDC, she was Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Product Strategy for Celmed BioSciences, Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Theratechnologies and Senior Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Technilab. Ela's diversified background includes product development and post market activities for both drugs and medical devices as well as key involvement in product acquisition and M&A deals.  Ela holds a B.Sc., Chemistry Honors from University of Western Ontario; an M.Sc., in Pharmacology from University of Toronto and an M.B.A in Bio-Industries from UQAM.


Yves Cornellier, President and Chief Executive Officer - director


Yves is a veteran marketing and sales professional with more than 25 years in the healthcare industry and extensive experience negotiating licensing and collaboration agreements with large pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies and institutions. Prior to joining Alethia, Yves was Senior Vice President, Business Development for LAB International Inc. since October 2003, subsequent to the acquisition of Seyvika Pharmaceuticals for which he was the founder. Prior, he held the position of Vice-President, Business Development and Commercialization at Theratechnologies, and also held the position of Director of Business Development and Senior Marketing Manager, Pharmaceuticals Product Division, for Abbott Laboratories Ltd. He also had the opportunity to work for Glaxo Canada and Miles Laboratories Canada in management positions of increasing responsibility including sales management, marketing, business unit management and strategic development. Yves has been and still is a member of the Board of Directors of several organizations.


Louise Proulx, Ph.D. - director


Dr. Proulx holds a Ph.D. in physiology from Université Laval and pursued postdoctoral studies at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. She has close to 30 years experience in research and science management. From 1977 to 1985, she focused her efforts on prostate and breast cancer at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université Laval. From 1985 to 2001, she took over scientific positions of increasing responsibilities, notably as Vice President, Scientific Affairs at Hoechst Marion Roussel Canada, and Vice President, Therapeutic Product Development at Biochem Pharma.  She was later Vice President, Business Development of Genome Quebec (2001-2002) and Vice Principal Research at McGill University (2002-2004). From November 2004 to December 2006 she was Vice President, Product Development at Topigen Pharmaceuticals Inc.. She is now Vice-President, Product Development at ViroChemPharma . Dr. Proulx has been a member of several boards of directors over her career including the National Research Council of Canada. She is currently a member of the board of directors of  GeminX Pharmaceuticals and Diagnocure Inc.
